Option premiums are paying more this week than they have in over a month. For 28 days straight, the market barely moved. The VIX, which tracks how much movement traders expect, sat between 14 and 17 the whole time. A calm market doesn't pay options sellers much. This week that changed. The VIX pushed above 18. Oil is back over $100 a barrel. Government bond rates hit their highest level in years. And after a bad inflation report, traders now think the Fed will raise rates next Wednesday.
