China's Decline Is Now Official |
The Financial Times just confirmed it: China peaked in 2021, and AI can't save them. A record $425 billion is fleeing their markets. |
When a superpower falls, the money moves. Last time it moved through Exxon and paid 7,000%. |
This time I've found the chokepoint it has to cross. |

🏗️ The Whole Group Was Green. Nobody Got Back to August. |
Power and hardware had their loudest session in a week on Thursday. Every one of them stopped short of where it closed on the 27th. |
Four names in the AI build-out complex closed green on Thursday, and the spread between them looked like it meant something. Celestica up 11.55% to 309.84 on 3,897,482 shares. Vertiv up 4.73% to 268.83. CoreWeave up 4.49% to 84.56. Nebius up 3.20% to 210.63. Best to worst, better than three to one. |
Run the same four against a single earlier date and the spread collapses. On August 27 Celestica closed 317.38, Vertiv 269.28, Nebius 218.48, CoreWeave 86.80. Every Thursday number is lower. Four names, four green sessions, four closes sitting underneath a close from four sessions before. Celestica put up its loudest day in weeks and finished seven dollars and fifty-four cents short of it. |
| |
📊 BY THE NUMBERS |
Celestica's August 27 close. Thursday's 11.55% run ended at 309.84, seven dollars and fifty-four cents beneath it. |
How far Vertiv's 268.83 finished under the 269.28 it closed on August 27, after a 4.73% session. |
CoreWeave's Thursday close, still under the 84.89 it closed on August 31. |
Here is what makes the session worth sitting with anyway. There is a real difference inside this group. Celestica and Vertiv sell physical things into a physical bottleneck: boards, racks, power distribution, heat. CoreWeave and Nebius sell compute against contracts that have not been delivered yet. On Thursday the two that ship hardware outran the two that sell future capacity by better than two to one. That is the order you would get if the tape were pricing the constraint rather than the story. |
| |
Thursday did not price anything new. It bought back part of a week. |
And then none of them cleared. A group that moves in the right order and still cannot reclaim a four-session-old close is not re-rating. It is recovering. The August 27 marks are the ones to hold these names against, because that is where the last real bid left them, and every one of those marks is still overhead. |

Four market regimes, one setup that outlasted all of them |
Chris Pulver traded through the dot-com bust, 2008, COVID and the 2022 bear, and says one thing has not changed across any of them: the expected daily range the market makers publish for the S&P holds because the people who publish it are paid for it to hold. This briefing is the single morning trade he builds around that. |

📒 THE LEDGER |
No new call went on the board this weekend. No Doubler was issued and no grade was entered, so the record stands exactly where the last scored call left it, at eight and five. |
That is the entry. The one read still carrying a Tuesday horizon is the Circle fade at 96.40, the high from August 31, and nothing settles it until the market reopens on the 8th. Anything that traded after a call was published gets graded in the edition that follows, not in this one. |
An empty page in the book is still a page in the book. We print the quiet weeks the same size as the loud ones. |
The short week does not make it easier. Four sessions, Tuesday through Friday, with producer prices on the Thursday and consumer prices on the Friday. Two inflation prints inside four days is a lot of duration risk for a group that gets paid in capital spending that has not happened yet. The hardware names can point at an order or a shipment. The compute names have to defend a discount rate twice in two days. |
| |
⏳ THE 48-HOUR CLOCK |
August producer prices. Input costs land on the hardware half of this group before the demand story gets a chance to. |
August consumer prices, on the closing session of a four-day week. The rate the compute names get discounted at reprices with nowhere left in the week to argue about it. |
So the one to mark is Celestica, and the number is 317.38. It is the only name in the group that travelled far enough on Thursday to have cleared, and it still did not. A name that can move eleven and a half percent and stop short of a four-day-old close is telling you what that ceiling costs. |
Which of the four gets back over its August 27 close first, the one shipping hardware or the one selling compute? Send me the number, not the name. |
