Keep An Eye On Knightscope (KSCP)

Hey Folks,
Every industry eventually hits a breaking point, and American physical security may have just reached one...
Businesses pay $220K to $570K per year to cover a single guarded post around the clock. More than 90% of security alerts are useless without a human in the loop. And the average corporate security chief juggles 8 to 12 vendors—not one of them accountable when something happens at 3 a.m.
IT security fixed this exact fragmentation twenty years ago by consolidating to the managed-service model. Physical security never had that moment.
Knightscope, Inc. (NASDAQ: KSCP) is attempting to build exactly that.

What Is an Autonomous Security Force?
Knightscope is a Silicon Valley managed service provider with a stated mission of making the United States the safest country in the world. The company is constructing what it calls the nation's first Autonomous Security Force—one managed service accountable for the outcome, built on four operational pillars:
1. Autonomous security robots
2. AI-driven software
3. Real-time monitoring
4. Licensed security agents
As the company frames it: not a camera company, not a guarding company, not a software platform—all of it, under one roof, fully managed.
The current footprint:
✓ Network scale: approximately 10,000 machines and agents
✓ Client base: 434 clients across 42 states
✓ Track record: more than 4.4 million autonomous hours logged since the first deployment in 2015

Inside the Q1 Numbers
Here is what the first quarter of 2026 looked like:
✓ Revenue: $6M, up 106% year over year from $2.9M
✓ Service revenue: $4.2M, up 98%
✓ Product revenue: $1.8M, up 128%
✓ Gross margin: positive for the first time, at 8% of revenue
✓ Recurring mix: roughly 70% of revenue is now recurring
✓ Pro forma growth: even on a like-for-like basis, revenue grew 39%
Chairman and CEO William Santana Li called Q1 "a turning point for Knightscope," noting that with the strategic acquisition of Event Risk, all four operational pillars of the Autonomous Security Force are now in place.
Weeks later, the company announced approximately $3.8M in new and recurring contracts across eight verticals, led by critical infrastructure: a major California county, the federal government, a US national laboratory, and Fortune 500 healthcare names.

Preliminary Q2: Revenue Triples to a Company Record
On July 20, Knightscope announced preliminary, unaudited second-quarter results: approximately $9M in revenue for the quarter ended June 30, up more than 200% from $2.7M in the same period last year—a new quarterly record for the company.
Context matters here. Because the Event Risk acquisition closed in late February, Q1 captured only about one month of Security Force operations. The second quarter is the first to reflect a full quarter of the combined company.
The preliminary figure is subject to quarter-end closing procedures and has not been reviewed by the company's independent auditor. Full second-quarter results are expected in mid-August 2026.
Why Would a Robotics Company Buy a Guarding Business?
In February, Knightscope closed its acquisition of Event Risk, a nationwide provider of armed and unarmed guarding and executive protection with Fortune 1000 clients, consistent double-digit growth, and strong retention. The company quadrupled its workforce to over 400 people, and began offering equity participation to frontline security agents—a move it positions as a structural differentiator in an industry known for extreme turnover.
The company's reasoning: every security RFP in America is written for guards and cameras. Guards go in first. Trust gets earned. Then the technology layers in, replacing static posts one at a time. Guards are not the destination—they are the potential deployment catalyst for autonomy.

The K7 Flagship and the Road Ahead
The all-new K7 Autonomous Security Robot is designed for environments the company says no camera or human post can match: miles of fence lines, logistics yards, solar farms, critical infrastructure, and defense installations.
Several catalysts sit on the calendar:
✓ K7 waitlist: open to the public, with limited series production expected to begin deployment in the second half of 2026
✓ Carnegie Mellon: five graduate students from the Robotics Institute are building an advanced AI feature for the K7 under a five-year collaboration
✓ GSX 2026: the Autonomous Security Force debuts in Atlanta, September 14-16
✓ Full Q2 results: audited numbers arrive in mid-August
The American Ownership Angle
Knightscope positions itself as the only American, publicly owned company in autonomous security. US-only operations. No foreign parent company. In an era of rising scrutiny on foreign control of critical infrastructure, the company argues this positioning could function as a procurement advantage.

Worth a Closer Look?
The Q1 numbers are on the books: revenue up 106%, gross margin positive for the first time, roughly 70% recurring. The Event Risk acquisition is closed and operational, $3.8M in fresh bookings landed in May, and preliminary Q2 revenue nearly tripled to a company record.
For those interested in security technology and managed services, KSCP may be worth monitoring.
Anyways...
That's all for now!
Until Next Time,
-ZT Team
