I recently got back from a trip to the Caribbean. This wasn't a chill on the beach and doing nothing trip.
I actually spent the entire week with my friend Mike Sigel.
If you aren't familiar with the world of professional billiards, Mike is widely considered one of the greatest pool players to ever live. They literally call him "The King."
He’s a 10-time World Open Champion, a 3-time US Open Champion, and was the youngest player ever inducted into the Billiard Congress of America Hall of Fame. He was even the guy who trained Tom Cruise and Paul Newman for the movie The Color of Money.
Anyway, Mike and I spent 7 days straight together. Full-time. Eight hours a day, every single day, playing pool.
Now, going into this, I thought I was pretty good. I’ve played a lot of pool in my life.
But I quickly realized there are levels to this game that I didn't even know existed. I literally didn’t know what I didn’t know.
On our first full day together, Mike wouldn't even let me take a shot.
For the entire day, I was only allowed to hold the cue. Just practicing my grip and my stance over and over again.

At one point, totally frustrated, I looked at him and said, "Mike, come on. We’re just hanging out here... seriously, it’s just a ball going into a hole. Can you please just let me shoot?"
He just smiled and told me to fix my grip.
But you know what’s crazy?
By the third day, I couldn’t miss.
Every shot felt effortless. And the weirdest thing about it was realizing how easy playing well actually is once you know the exact mechanics and have a “fast lane” in the form of a mentor. If you’ve ever been to Disneyland, you know there are always two lanes.
You have the regular lane, where people wait in the hot sun for hours just for a single ride. Then you have the Lightning Lane. If you have that pass, you just walk right by the crowd and get exactly where you want to go in minutes.
That is what a world-class mentor does. They let you bypass the lines. They save you years of frustration and thousands of dollars in mistakes.
I’m fortunate to be mentored by the best in the areas of my life that matter most to me, whether it's business, health, investing, and apparently, pocket billiards.
I truly believe we all should seek out that kind of help if we’re serious about growing. Keep an eye on your inbox, because in my next email, I’m going to share one of the biggest "aha" moments Mike taught me about mastering a skill… a secret I rarely hear anyone speaking about… a secret I think you can only stumble across when trying to accomplish something intimidating.
…and how it directly applies to making smart decisions in the crypto market. Talk soon,
Iman
P.S. Have you ever had a mentor in your life who completely changed your trajectory? Whether it was in sports, business, or just a life coach? Hit reply and let me know. I read every response.
