Congressman: Government needs power to REVERSE crypto transactions

Me:
The reconstitution of the Russell has created a lot of opportunity over the past few days...

A lot of headaches too.

As the indices realign and newcomers make their way in, there's always a bit of thrashing that shakes folks out of their small cap holdings from short-term price pressure...

But it's not long until they get back to where they were and, more often than not, these positions start to climb as the institutions and passive index funds rebalance.

One of the easiest ways to tell is to look at the charts of stocks that are part of the shuffle.

You'll see lots of red teeth taking control of the action...

But unless there's a material event that changes the story, the only control you need to be concerned with is that of your emotions.

It's challenging. Managing a portfolio always is...

Options Coach Chris Hood has a long history of portfolio management and provides some valuable tips on the subject in today's article.

WORD ON THE STREET
California Drugs, Crypto Criminals, Junior Mansions

  • A "Trip" to the West Coast - Psychedelics stocks like MindMed (MNMD) and Compass Pathways (CMPS) could get a lift soon on the latest news out of California. Yesterday, the California Assembly committee approved a bill, SB 519, that legalizes possession of psychedelics in a 5-3 vote. If the bill makes its way through two other panels and is signed by the governor, possession of psilocybin ("shrooms"), LSD, and other forms of psychedelics would be decriminalized. California's wild.

  • Big Brother's Regulatory Reversal - In an interview with Axios on Tuesday, Illinois Representative Bill Foster raised eyebrows with comments about the regulatory environment for digital assets. According to Foster, new laws allowing the courts to trace transactions back to the owners of digital assets are a must in order to discern which ones are fraudulent. Foster referred to recent ransomware attacks to support his case, but stated that cryptocurrencies could be "pseudo anonymous." Something like this:
  • Housing Prices Up... Again. - If you thought the rent was too high, try buying a house. Newly reported data shows that the pricing of U.S. houses saw its highest percentage increase since 1988 as of April of this year, an increase of 1.4% from March. With the low inventory of median-priced houses set to continue and mortgage rates near their lowest, Zillow Group economist Matthew Speakman said there's "little evidence of abating." Mobile home it is.

  • The "Uber of China" - The numbers are out and China's popular ride-hailing company Didi Global raised over $4.4 billion selling its stock. The company chose to price its shares at the high end of the range for its public debut on Wednesday, originally between $13 and $14 USD, and has increased the number of shares sold. This gives the company a valuation upwards of $70 billion or more. We'll wait for $13.
HOT SPOTS: What's Going on in Geopolitics

  • US Commander: Afghanistan Faces Civil War - The head of American forces in Afghanistan warns that the country faces civil war as US troops pull out. General Scott Miller said "very hard times" could be in store for the country once coalition forces leave. One has to ask - as compared to now? Maybe another 20 years will do it.

  • Hong Kong Bans Flights From UK - Hong Kong (which is to say the Chinese Communist Party) has banned all flights from the United Kingdom. The UK has been designed an "extremely high-risk" country when it comes to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite relatively high vaccination rates, the UK is seeing some of the highest rates of new cases in Europe, mostly due to the new "Delta" variant of the disease.

  • Iceland Lifts All Restrictions - The Delta variant of COVID-19 is spooking much of the world, but Iceland is reopening. With 87% of the population vaccinated, the government has lifted all restrictions within the country. Starting July 1, those with vaccination certificates will also be permitted into the country. It could provide a much needed tourism boost - especially as other areas of the world lock down.
CUTTING EDGE: What's Happening In Tech

  • No Life On Venus, But Jupiter... - Well, no colonies on Venus anytime soon (though if this heat wave continues, what's the difference?) Scientists say that the clouds on Venus don't have enough water to sustain even those creatures who can survive extreme environments on Earth. However, interestingly enough, clouds on Jupiter have the right water content and temperature to sustain life. Jupiter Optimus Maximus indeed.

  • Half A Million Users For Starlink - Tesla was just the beginning. Elon Musk's SpaceX and its Starlink satellite internet program is projected to have "possibly over 500,000 users within 12 months." Musk says that the company may invest as much as $30 billion. What is the goal? Elon Musk: "Not bankrupt." Well, that's a start.

  • Pangaea Lives! - The legends are true! A new geological theory posits that Iceland is just the tip of a vast underground continent. "Greater Icelandia" stretches from western Britain all the way to Greenland. Aside from putting a new perspective on legends like Atlantis, the theory sheds new light on how the crust under the North Atlantic was created, which could have practical importance in analyzing volcanic areas like Iceland. (Little Icelandia, that is).

FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION

"One of your greatest challenges – certainly one of mine – will come when your long call or bull call spread position does absolutely nothing."

"You just have a position that stagnates and takes up space in your portfolio. Do you keep them or cut them loose?"

Portfolio maintenance. It's not something you necessarily want to deal with. It's certainly less exciting than triple digit wins or pulling out of horrific losses. But knowing what to do with static positions is essential for those who want to win the long game. Your Options Coach Chris Hood tells you how to know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em.

BEFORE THE BELL
Here's another look at Electrameccanica (SOLO) using the daily chart.

Simply stated, it looks good for a run.

The stock has been consolidating over 50-day simple moving average, but under the 200sma which I've highlighted in the gray box... This is typical before crossing upwards for a move higher.

Notice the arrow to the left, we see a similar pattern setup.

I'd watch for a short-term run towards $6.00 with a stop below $3.75 if I'm playing it tight.

And as always, I'd also watch out for an offering.
