The Most Important Things to Watch on Wall Street Today There’s a ton going on this week, so here’s where we are fundamentally this morning… The U.S. January ADP employment change rose +107,000, weaker than expectations of +150,000. The U.S. fourth quarter employment cost index rose +0.9% quarter over quarter, weaker than expectations of +1.0% QOQ, and the smallest increase in 2 ½ years. The Treasury announced it will sell $121 billion of T-notes and T-bonds in the February quarterly refunding, right on expectations. The Treasury also said it does not anticipate the need to boost auction sizes "for at least the next several quarters."  The markets are discounting the chances for a 0.25% basis point rate cut at 2% at today’s FOMC meeting conclusion, and 52% for that same 0.25% cut for the following meeting on March 19-20. It should be an interesting day as we head into FOMC at 2 p.m. ET, followed by Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s comments at 2:30 p.m. On top of all the Fed data, at 11 a.m. ET, I’m joining Graham Lindman, Nate Tucci and Jack Carter for a very special roundtable discussion you can’t afford to miss!
