Stocks Plunge: Time to Panic or Time to Profit? When stocks take a dive, the real traders separate from the herd. Read on to see how staying rational can line your pockets, even in chaos.Did you catch the headlines screaming "Stocks Got Wrecked Today"? Everywhere I look, it's like a broken record on repeat. And you know what? It gets me thinking... These headline writers or TikTok gurus ... do they even trade? It seems like they're riding a rollercoaster of emotions. One day, they're singing praises of a never-ending stock rally. The next day, the S&P 500 dips a mere 1%, and suddenly, the sky is falling. This isn't about shutting off your emotions. No way. Emotions are part of the game. The real trick is staying rational in this wild market. Let's talk about that for a second. We're in the longest stretch without a 2% move in years. That's not normal. It's not rational. Markets move, and smart traders know it's all about playing probabilities. Take this week, for example. The S&P 500 was expected to swing 62 points either way. And guess what? It did just that, closing at 5205, right on the dot. Now, I'm not saying it won't drop further. But this tells us that the market is more orderly than these doomsday prophets would have you believe. It's about being rational, not reactionary. Oh, and let's not forget the 10-year treasury yield hitting 4.365%. Haven't seen that since November. Not great news for stocks. I've been banging the drum about rising rates, and here we are – fewer rate cuts on the horizon. My advice? Keep your eyes glued to the screen, not the headlines. Forget the economic data and talking heads. The real story's in the numbers and the charts. On a lighter note, I'm rebranding these emails from the Belanger Brief to Belanger’s Hoot. Why "Hoot"? Back in the day, major trading desks had a direct line system called "Hoot and Holler". That's what I'm channeling here – direct, no-nonsense insights. Good trading, and remember – rent's due.
