Greetings Everyday Spy, Jihi and I spent much of our time talking about how to streamline our productivity.
For anyone trying to work from home with kids, I know you get our pain.
We love all the kisses, cuddles, hugs, and smiles from the kids. But all that sugar starts to feel like salt in a wound when you miss daily work goals.
We've implemented a few successful practices, though.
First, we both work out at least 4 days a week. That gives us a solid energy boost and keeps our morale high, even when the kids are having a rough time. When possible, we work out together and try to include the kids. Alai - our daughter - has gotten really good at jumping jacks. And Sina is mastering the sit-up.
Second, we flip-flop turns for focused work. When one of us needs uninterrupted work time, that person goes into the bedroom, locks the door, plugs into some music and gets to work. We work in 2 hour shifts and swap-out as needed, kind of like a pro sailing crew crossing an ocean.
Sometimes I get a solid 6 hours of work in before going to bed. Other days, I miss out on focused work so that I can cover for Jihi to get her time in.
It's tough, but it's working. And we keep looking for ways to make it better.
If you've cracked the code on remote work productivity, or have a good tip to share, send it to me at info@EverydaySpy.com!
I'll share them here so that we can spread your secrets with everyone in the community. Godspeed, #EverydaySpy Follow @EverydaySpy on Social Media!
