President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy appeared to reach a deal over the long Memorial Day weekend on raising the U.S. debt ceiling. With June 5 — the earliest date at which the U.S. could default on its debt — looming, Congress could hold a vote as early as Wednesday. The market was also lifted by semiconductor manufacturer Nvidia which gained almost 5% on news that the company has reached a $1 trillion market cap.
