Don't Believe the Media's Hype About COVID-19 Dear Money & Crisis Reader, The hysterics around COVID-19 are a scam. The illness is very real. But the media hysterics and the policy responses have been misguided. Back in late February, I warned my readers about all of this. At that time, I noted: - That COVID-19 was in the US much longer than the media claimed.
- Far more people had been exposed to the illness than the official numbers claimed.
- The fact that we hadn’t seen a massive spike in deaths during the winter told us that MOST cases of COVID-19 were mild or with no symptoms.
I knew this from actual evidence – NOT from conspiracy theory. As early as late February, it was clear that 80%+ of COVID-19 cases were mild and required NO medical treatment. I also noted that Walmart didn’t close a single one of its 430 stores in China during the pandemic there. I took a lot of heat for these claims. I was called delusional and insane. Fast forward to today, and I was 100% correct about all of the above. We now know that COVID-19 was in the US for months before the first “official” case was reported. Some 80% of all COVID-19 deaths in the US were for those over the age of 65. The median age was 85! Moreover, we now know that the risk of death from COVID-19 for anyone under the age of 60 is less than 0.25%. Meaning if you’re under 50 and healthy, you have a 99.8-99.9% survival rate for this illness. That means that the actual death rate for COVID-19 is 0.1-0.2%... which is right in line with the very common flu… which I just so happened to compare COVID-19 to in late February. And finally, my key point: Tens of thousands of the deaths from COVID-19 are 100% the fault of governors sending infected seniors back to nursing homes. The Real Policy that Caused a Spike in the US Of the 107,000 people who have died from COVID-19 in the US, over 50% are in the four states that embraced that policy: New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania. New York is particularly reprehensible – the state was still sending infected seniors back to nursing homes as late as May 7. May 7… a full TWO MONTHS into the lockdown. Let’s be clear here — COVID-19 is a horrible illness. I am in no way making light of this. But it is an illness that has little, if any, real risk to young, healthy people. It is, however, an illness that is extremely dangerous for the elderly. And the majority of COVID-19 deaths can be attributed to the four states that sent infected seniors back to their nursing homes. There was no reason to perform a nationwide lockdown. There was no reason to whip everyone up into a frenzy. The flu hospitalized between 410,000-740,000 people and killed between 24,000-62,000 people this season alone. No one in the media talked about this. No one urged an economic lockdown. No one claimed that it was a pandemic that would be worse than the Spanish flu of 1918-1919. I have zero doubt that without the horrific policy of sending infected seniors back to their nursing homes, COVID-19 would have produced similar numbers. |
