A Connecticut man who found a bag containing almost $5,000 in cash lying in a parking lot claims it felt like he had won the lotto. So he decided to keep it. He was accused of stealing three months later. It turned out that the bag, which Trumbull Police claimed was seized outside the same bank and was plainly marked with a bank's insignia, contained money from the town's tax department. The town of Trumbull was listed as the legitimate owner of the money in "numerous documents" that were also found there, according to the police. The man, Robert Withington of Trumbull, claims he did not steal the money and failed to see any identifying marks in the bag. He was charged with third-degree larceny, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison and up to $5,000 in fines. He was released on a promise to appear in court on Sept. 5. |

American Airlines flight attendants are the most recent group of aviation workers to vote in support of going on strike. The Association of Professional Flight Attendants, the union that represents them, claimed a 99.47% vote in favor of a strike authorization vote with 93% of union membership participating. The vote does not indicate that a strike will take place soon. Before any actual strike can happen, airline employees and their employers must go through a number of difficult stages. On Wednesday, American flight attendants who are not currently on duty will hold educational picketing sessions at a dozen airports around the country. Southwest Airlines and American Airlines pilots both approved strikes earlier this year. Since that time, American pilots and their employer have approved a new contract. |

On Tuesday, former President Donald Trump told conservative media personality Glenn Beck that if he was elected for president again that he would prosecute his political enemies. After Beck reminded Trump about his 2016 statements about locking up Hilary Clinton, he asked if he regretted not pursuing that after becoming president. Then he asked if he would consider doing it if he wins again. "Well, I'll give you an example… The answer is you have no choice, because they're doing it to us," Trump said before adding that he "never hit Biden" as hard as he could have. "I always had such great respect for the office of the president and the presidency … And then I heard he was trying to indict me, and it was him that was doing it." Here's what else he had to say about his presidential plans. |

The Egyptian skyline is still dominated by pyramids, which are enduring emblems of the strength and technological prowess of the ancient pharaohs. But when were the first pyramids built? And for what purpose were they initially built? The pharaoh Djoser constructed Egypt's first pyramid during his roughly 4,700-year reign. The latest pyramid for a pharaoh in ancient Egypt was built for Ahmose I about 3,500 years ago, more than a millennium ago. Following that, kings of Egypt were interred in the Valley of the Kings' underground tombs. In other words, ancient Egypt's pyramids were constructed around 2700 and 1500 B.C. In light of this, Stonehenge, which was initially constructed between 4,000 and 5,000 years ago, and the earliest pyramids are roughly comparable in age. The Parthenon (447 B.C. ), the Great Wall of China (220 B.C. ), and the Colosseum (A.D. 80) are all older than the pyramids, though. However, Gobekli Tepe, a Neolithic structure in Turkey, dates back between 11,000 and 12,000 years. |
