Market Review:

The Last Day of the Month The open of April was 4127.00, and the open of this week was 4150.00. This is a closeout day. The last day of the month, and the last day of the week. Over its long history, the ES market has enjoyed creating confusion. No greater confusion could be given by this market than a close today between 4127.00 and 4150.00. If we close above both numbers, then we head into the weekend on a positive note. If we close below both numbers, then we start our weekend on a negative. If we close right in between, then we are both positive for the month and negative for the week. The truth is the month counts more. It's also true that whatever happens today, next week still has both the FOMC on Wednesday, and the Employment reports on Friday of next week.

What's Hot and Not! The End of April and Beginning of May At the end of the day the month of April is finished, but the month of May is just beginning. Next week's big news announcements on Wednesday, FOMC, will be followed by the Employment Reports from Friday. Anything decided today can easily be rewritten next week. Stay sharp, it's not over just because we closed the month.
