When the economy is pumped with stimulus, who really gets stimulated? Are you stimulated? Are you earning more? Are you seeing more money in your bank account each week? Nah, didn't think so. You want to know who really stimulates when stimulation is pumped into an economy? Government and corporations. Not you. Actually, we've noticed that over the years as stimulation and money printing enters an economy, the socio-economic issues of the world only seem to get worse. Hmmm. We must ask why that is the case. It's obvious, isn't it? Stimulus and government intervention is self-serving at the cost of social issues and the people who really make an economy flourish. Political, economic, financial and social issues are always intertwined. None sit in isolation without impact and influence over the others. This intertwining of all arms of existence means that as an investor, you also can't view each in isolation. You must consider the impact of one over the other and vice versa when making investment decisions. You must also ask, what does history tell us about situations like this when tensions are high and great systemic problems appear to be surfacing again? Well, a trip through history (which Kit says is boring, but it's incredibly relevant) should help to give some perspective as to what can happen even when you might think it can't. A fascinating, insightful Exponential Investor podcast this week where we dive into the big issues and much more to help you make sense of this wild world we live in.
