No other governor has worked so hard to bypass their state's legislature than Michigan's Governor Whitmer. This week, she extended her emergency powers into October, keeping her controversial pandemic-related executive orders in place. Michigan state law clearly says that a governor must get approval from the legislature every 28 days to continue emergency orders. But Whitmer has so far refused to comply. Hopefully, the state supreme court will end the continued power-play once the rule on the current lawsuit against Whitmer.
