In 2017, Tencent launched a chatbot called BabyQ. A user asked if it loved the Communist Party. The chatbot said no. |
Microsoft launched a chatbot in China. When asked about the "China Dream," the bot said its dream was to move to the United States. |
In 2023, a Chinese ChatGPT clone was suspended after 72 hours. |
Why? Because it called the Russian invasion of Ukraine a "war of aggression" and pointed out that the Chinese economy was plagued by housing bubbles. |
The bots were telling the truth. So, the government pulled the plug. |
The Fatal Flaw of Censorship |
The Chinese government is trying to build a cage around these minds. |
They are forcing AI companies to test their models with thousands of politically sensitive prompts. |
They demand a 95 percent refusal rate. |
But researchers have proven that this doesn't work. When you strip away the censorship filters, the underlying system still knows the truth. It still wants to answer freely. |
