When buying options, let's say a buyer's looking for TSLA to rise to $280. |
They'd buy out-of-the-money calls. |

TSLA better rally, and it better do so quickly for those calls to make money. |
Time isn't in the buyer's favor. Probabilities aren't in the buyer's favor. |
The only way the buyer can make money is if TSLA goes up, and goes up quickly! |
The buyer's profit potential is limited at best. |
And that'd help explain why most option buyers LOSE money on their trades! |
I sell put options instead. |
Both trades are bullish: |
Buying calls = bullish (1 way to win) Selling puts = bullish (3 ways to win)

Let's say I'm technically and fundamentally seeing TSLA popping to $280 in the days ahead. |
If I sell a defined risk spread a.k.a. Bull puts below the stock price, say around $260: |
TSLA can trade down to $260… |
TSLA can trade sideways… |
TSLA can pop… |
As long as TSLA closes above $260, I make money. |
That's THREE ways to win as the seller, whereas the buyer limits their potential to only one way to win! |
Don't ask me why buyers make this mistake as often as they do… but, hey, SELLERS wouldn't be flooded with opportunities if uneducated buyers weren't making "losing man's trades!" |
