U.S. stock indexes edged lower following another reminder that big, unsettling policy changes are underway because of President Donald Trump, along with more signals suggesting the U.S. economy remains solid for now. |
Good MorningEquity markets fell in early trading on Friday but were able to claw back some of the losses before the closing bell. Regardless, the S&P 500 closed below the critical 5,700 level for the 2nd week in a row, increasing the likelihood of a deeper pullback. While the outlook for earnings remains positive, headwinds are cutting into it and leading the market to reset. The risk is that the outlook will continue to darken and lead the market into Bear Market territory. Ironically, Elon Musk's involvement with DOGE impacts the national economic outlook and his own company. A new report from Edmunds reveals that Tesla owners are trading their cars at a record pace in favor of other brands. If the trend impacts Tesla's new sales in the same way, Tesla's 2025 earnings outlook is worthless, and its stock price is heading lower. Already down nearly 50% from the recent high, a new multi-year low is likely. Featured: Billionaires Are Moving Into This Stock—Here's Why (Behind the Markets)
