Many of you are asking why Israel's military response is being condemned in the media.
After all, Hamas attacked first. Doesn't Israel have a right to defend itself?
In my email yesterday, I predicted that this exact thing would happen.
Because the pieces were set to fall that way.
And here's how it happened:
Fact 1: The Gaza Strip is cut off from the outside world.
It shares a border with Israel and Egypt, but no one is allowed in or out without special papers.
Gaza may be run by Hamas, but it relies on Israel for food, water, medicine, and electricity.
At any point, Israel could cut off aid to Gaza, and it would have no choice but to slowly die.
Fact 2: Hamas uses Gaza citizens as human shields.
NATO's Strategic Communications Center of Excellence released a detailed report that presented a mountain of evidence for this.
Hamas launches rockets from strategic locations surrounded by hospitals, schools, and apartments.
Knowing that Israel has to take out the rocket launchers, and doing so forces them to destroy civilian structures.
Hamas also built a massive network of underground tunnels throughout the Gaza Strip.
They use these to smuggle and store military goods throughout the city.
Which means their stockpiles and movements are also shielded by innocent civilians.
Fact 3: Palestine enjoys widespread popular support abroad.
It may not be recognized as a country, but citizens from America to Zimbabwe recognize the plight of the Palestinian people.
This makes it easy to conflate Hamas – an internationally recognized terrorist organization – with innocent Palestinian civilians.
Immediately after the attack, Israel cut off supplies to Gaza.
After all, why would you supply your enemy as they attack you?
And the one power station that powers all of Gaza ran out of fuel on Tuesday.
That means Gaza is left without food, water, medicine, and electricity.
And citizens are unable to escape.
Hamas – and its Iranian backers – knew that Palestinians would starve, dehydrate, and die in the crossfire.
Because they set it up that way…
Israel had to retaliate, and by doing so, would appear to be the bad guys.
This is a war where everyone loses… Except Iran, who stands to gain more power in the Middle East as a result.
