My Market-Crushing 2025 Action Plan
Dear Subscriber,

Some of you may think I am the most boring guy in America.
After all, millions of people went out drinking and dancing to ring in the New Year.
Not me. See, my wife and I did the same thing we’ve done every year for the last 27 years.
It’s a great ritual if you want to try it …
At 6 p.m., we sit down by the fire, have some wine and review our successes from the past year.
We note where we can make some improvements going forward. Then, we go over our action plan for the year ahead.
We pay particular attention to our Investment Action Plan.
Once we’ve done that, we toast what we will achieve in the year ahead.
2025 is still very young. So, if you want to have your best financial year yet, today I’ll help you get set up to …
Write Your Own Market-Crushing
Investment Action Plan …
What started out as our fun little ritual has turned into a positive financial habit — the sort that can help you attain financial freedom no matter what the market throws your way.
And like any journey, you’re more likely to arrive at your intended destination safely, on time and without getting lost if you have a proper map.
Without a written plan, it’s easy to fall prey to all the confusing headlines that are coming our way.
From inflation to war in Europe to a possible recession, there’s no shortage of challenges coming our way.
There’s also no reason why we shouldn’t plan to profit, this and every year.
There’s a good reason that an Investment Action Plan breeds success …
Just the process of creating the plan — and being honest about your goals, your notions about risk and about the amount of capital you have to work with — dramatically elevates the odds you’re going to succeed.
With that in mind, and assuming you haven’t already written one, let’s go through just what your specific Investment Action Plan for 2025 and beyond might actually look like.
4 Stepsto Your
Fiscally Fit 2025
You’re going to need to:
Detail Your Goals and Objectives: Your goals shape every other part of the plan.
It might start out with a mission statement akin to: “I intend to retire in 20 years, and I will need a net worth of at least $2 million to make this happen.”
Your objectives might include some near-term goals as well. Things like funding your child’s college education, buying a vacation house, setting up a foundation or traveling abroad.
Assess Your Feelings About Risk: You need to be honest as you assess your capacity for risk. After all, the greatest investment plan in the world won’t work if you won’t stick with it.
For instance, if volatility freaks you out, maybe you should choose investments — such as ETFs — that offer high average annual gains, but which don’t have the wild swings the underlying individual stocks might experience.
Draw a Map: Goals are great, but you must figure out how you’re going to attain them.
You need to work out how much you need to put away today, tomorrow and next year to get where you want to be.
Make sure you’re taking advantage of all that’s available — like your company’s 401(k) match.
Start Now: As part of your statement of purpose, make sure you say what you’re going to do in 2025.
It might read something like “Invest in quality technology stocks with the potential to double my money in three years.”
Not only is this a fine goal, but it’s also a highly achievable one. Especially because these are exactly the kinds of stocks I target in my Disruptors & Dominators newsletter every month.
Somewhere in your plan, address the specific steps you’ve been putting off and will be prepared to tackle.
- This could be items like making better use of stop losses to protect your capital and profits.
- It might also include a target return for your portfolio — for instance, at least doubling the S&P’s returns.
Let me be candid. If this sounds like a lot of work, it is. After all, we are trying to achieve financial freedom, and that’s never easy.
I will have more to say about the investing climate this year in next Friday’s column.
So, be sure to check back with me to see my specific forecasts for three sectors to target in 2025.
Best,
