The shooter is almost always personally connected to the target.
And they're often already known by local law enforcement due to a string of criminal or mental health-related issues.
Shooters are nothing more than human threats that choose to take terrible action.
And human threats always have 'tells' before they attack.
And it starts with the type of target they choose.
91% of mass shootings since 2019 have been against 'soft' targets -- a place with little to no physical security.
When a potential shooter considers where to strike, one of the first things they consider is the physical security at their target site.
Schools, government buildings, and banks have been 'hardening' themselves against active shooters since the early 2000's. And as a result, school shootings have decreased by 78%.
61% of public shootings in the last 20 years have occurred at a place of business.
Restaurants, small businesses, and health clinics want to appear inviting and open to their customers.
For that reason, they naturally do not make security a priority.
As you conduct your everyday business, keep an eye out for signs of 'hard' security;
Look for doormen, keyed entry, card scanners, cameras, security guards, etc.
These businesses put your security first - and shooters don't like that. They prefer 'soft' targets that give them easy access where they can cause massive harm.
