Google makes money from ad revenue. That's the majority of their income.
The main idea is: if Google isn't making as much money, the global advertising market must be shifting.
The company cited a few factors to explain its performance. Chief among them are inflation, the war in Ukraine, and stiff competition between Youtube and TikTok. Google owns Youtube.
Now let's think about this as an investor or trader. There's evidence of increased competition for ad revenue in this first quarter.
