Opening The Kimono On Naked Puts

Good Morning, Bullpen! Yesterday the market had one of the worst days of the year with S&P 500 closing down 3.5% and NASDAQ Composite down 3.7%. There was no one specific headline to explain such weakness. However, investors seemed to be worried about the second wave of the virus and uncertainty surrounding the upcoming presidential elections. This morning ES-Mini futures are trading 0.7% higher as investors await some key tech earnings reports. Most likely there is going to be plenty of action today with more than 400 companies reporting earnings - the ones to watch are listed below. On Tuesday, Dave Lukas gave the Bullpen a run-down of the FAANG stocks' Fractal Energy as they approach earnings today (FB, AMZN, AAPL, GOOG). Since then, the FAANGs that are reporting today (after the market closes) have pulled back, which means that Dave's session on naked puts today at 11am EST is perfect timing. That's because Dave's strategy of collecting premium by selling naked puts works the best in situations like this. You see, when a stock goes down, traders assume it will keep going down, leading them to want to buy put options. With all this demand for put options, Dave can sell them for big bucks. PINS - Pinterest shares are up close to 30% pre-market, after the company reported a blowout quarter: EPS $0.13 vs $0.02 estimated, revs $443M vs $378M estimated, Monthly Active Users are up 37% to 442M.
