Indexes trade mixed after losing steam

Hey Undefined, All three indices were mostly mixed today as the market lost steam from pre-trade futures gains. The Dow closed down while both the S&P 500 and NASDAQ edged up at the closing bell. The housing market showed signs of explosive growth, with new home sales jolting upward for the month of July. Consumer confidence tracking for the month of August, however, unexpectedly dropped.
