Dear Reader,   Whether you’re optimistic about the future or not, and whether you still see COVID-19 as a serious threat or you think we’re past the worst of it…   I want to remind you why we continued to warn of a worst-case scenario.   On 12th March, £191bn was wiped off the FTSE100 in a single day.   The second worst one-day fall in history.   Here’s the chart, for context:     I don’t know how much money you lost personally – if any – but I can say that this sort of drop can easily wipe out wealth that took decades of hard work and saving to grow.   I am not saying that there will be a second lockdown. I’m not saying there won’t be one, either.   I’m saying that if you do not at least prepare yourself for a worst-case scenario, you are putting a huge amount at risk.   Let me ask you a question:   If there was a second wave and Britain was forced to shut down again, do you think investors would react more calmly, because this is no longer a new threat?   Or do you think that with the knowledge of how fast the markets plunged last time, they would get their money out faster this time, in order to avoid the worst of their losses?   What would you do in this scenario?   Here, I’ve outlined some of the key moves you can make today to help protect yourself in future. ​ You still have time.
